We were in church (Church of the City/Franklin, TN) the first time I heard ‘Graves Into Gardens’. When you get to the bridge “You turn mourning to dancing, beauty for ashes, shame into glory…” the vocals sing and then the band does a bum bum bum bum echo thing each time. I remember it so vividly. “OH MAN…THAT IS A HORN LINE!”

Here’s what I mean and here’s what I did:

See what I mean? That bridge section with the band anwering after the vocals? It felt so natural to have the horns play that lick. I did mess with the chords a little too. 🙂  I mean this is a horn band after all!

Memphis + Horns – That’s the style I felt like this song would work oh so well in. I love Chris Stapleton (who doesn’t???) and so I tried to give this a feel in the style of Chris Stapleton visting Memphis.

I arranged this one as an electric guitar feature for the entire song. An old friend and fellow TRUTH alumni, Dave Cleveland (A KILLER SESSION GUITAR PLAYER!!!) is featured on this and he knocked it out of the park!

I treated this as a guitar feature so the horns do NOT play the melody in this version. What that means is….

You could do this as a CONGREGATIONAL ACCOMPANIMENT!!!!!!!!

So you can begin the service with the entire song (or sections if you want as a teaser) featuring guitar and you can do the entire arrangement as a congregational version as well!

I’m So excited for you to hear this arrangement so you can listen below. You can also hear it on our YouTube Channel (also below).
